Alternation of thick beds of red-brown, sandy clay- and siltstones, clear halite and white to pink anhydrite and carbonate beds. Evaporitic minerals are frequently present as nodules in the claystones. The original bedding lamination of the claystones is generally disturbed by displacive nodule growths and mudcracks (see Mijnlieff et al 2011, Appendix B).
In the saline lake and its fringes which covered the basin center (Fryberger et al. 2011 and Gast et al. 2010).
Placed at the top of the Lower Silverpit Claystone Member, which is characterised by the absence of thick evaporite intervals.
Placed at the base of the Upper Silverpit Claystone Member, which is characterised by the absence of thick evaporite intervals.
