Thick, red-brown, sandy clay- and siltstone interval with some intercalated sand-/siltstone stringers and beds. Anhydritic nodules can be common in the claystones of some intervals.

Playa lake fringe to mudflat.

Unconformably on the grey, black or secondarily reddened coal measures of the Limburg Group.
Definitie bovengrens
Placed at the base of the first thick sandstone bed of the Upper Slochteren Member.
