Lithologische beschrijving

White to light grey medium to very coarse sand, very gravelly (sporadic oolitic chert), partially lithified. Coarsening-upward sequences with poorly developed clay layers.

Afzettingsmilieu

Fluvial braidplain, partly marine at the base.

Definitie ondergrens

Basal quartz-rich sand (Waubach Sands, cf. Doppert et al. 1975). Sharp contact with shallow-marine sand and clay (Breda Formation) and with finer fluvial sand (Inden Formation).

Definitie bovengrens

Commonly exposed at the surface. Elsewhere, sharp contact with fluvial clay (Brunssum Member, Kieseloolite Formation).
