Lithologische beschrijving

Pale brown to greyish white very fine to medium sand, bleached, quartz-rich, stable heavy-mineral association, commonly non-calcareous. Grey to brownish grey loam beds and greenish grey to brown clay beds. Local peat horizons and layers of fine gravel.

Afzettingsmilieu

Small-scale fluvial (rivers draining northern Belgium), fluvio-aeolian (periglacial), local colluvial, estuarine (Westerhoff 2008) and shallow marine.

Definitie ondergrens

Sharp contact with fluvial clay (Waalre Formation), gradual transition into fluvial sand (Kieseloolite Formation).

Definitie bovengrens

Sharp contact with coarser fluvial sand (Sterksel, Urk and Kreftenheye Formations). Gradual to diffuse transition into younger aeolian and local river sand (Boxtel Formation).
