Formal (Busschers & Weerts 2003).

Grey to greyish brown medium to very coarse sand, calcareous and locally gravelly. Typically fining upward with upward-decreasing percentage marine shells (Eemian fauna).

Fluvial (Rhine) and estuarine.

Generally, gravelly lag at the base. Sharp, unconformable contact with older fluvial sand (Kreftenheye Formation, undifferentiated).

Generally, erosive contact with younger fluvial sand (Kreftenheye Formation, undifferentiated).

Up to about 20 m.

Lowland of the western and southwestern Netherlands, southern part of Dutch North Sea.

North Sea: fragmentarily present as Kreftenheye Formation (undifferentiated; Cameron et al. 1989); UK: not present; GER; not present; BEL: not present.

Late Pleistocene (early Weichselian).

Named after Ockenburg, a borough of The Hague and former airport.

The unit is equivalent to unit B2 in Busschers (2008).
