Lithological description

Medium to very coarse sand and coarse gravel, with cobbles, boulders and blocks. Local loam or clay, especially at the top, coarse sand lenses.

Depositional setting

Fluvial (eastern Meuse).

Definition of lower boundary

Sharp contact with various Neogene, Paleogene, Cretaceous and Paleozoic units. Locally incised into Noorbeek, Crapoel or Kosberg Members (Beegden Formation).

Definition of upper boundary

Locally, exposed at the surface. Commonly, sharp contact with periglacial aeolian and local river loam and sand (Boxtel Formation). Locally incised by Margraten Member (Beegden Formation).

Thickness indication
Up to about 15 m.

Southeasternmost Netherlands, near the Belgian and German borders.
