Lithologische beschrijving

Thin, finely laminated, argillaceous, black and often bituminous limestones. On the slope of the basin the member is developed as a thicker-bedded limestone. Along the basin margin, this member usually consists of a massive to thick-bedded, light-coloured, sometimes oolitic or bioclastic dolomite, with intercalations of anhydrite.

Afzettingsmilieu

Marine carbonate, bordered by an extensive sabkha to the south and a deep basin to the north.
