Lithologische beschrijving

Predominantly soft, fine-grained limestone. The lower part contains 50-90% CaCO3 and glauconite. The upper part contains 80-95% CaCO3 and distinctive flint nodules which may contstitute up to 20% of its volume.

Afzettingsmilieu

Shallow marine environment.

Definitie ondergrens

Rests unconformably upon the Aachen, Vaals, and Oploo formations.

Definitie bovengrens

Conformably overlain by the Maastricht Formation.

Occurs south of the Benzenrade- and Schin op Geul faults and on the Peel Block.
