Lithologische beschrijving

Stiff dark brown clay, micaceous and moderately silty. Layers of very fine glauconitic sand. Basal conglomerate with reworked macrofossils, clay balls and phosphorite concretions. Low carbonate content related to post-depositional dissolution.

Afzettingsmilieu

Warm delta base, delta front (Van den Berg et al. 2000).

Gradual transition into shallow-marine clay (Aalten Member, Breda Formation).

Erosional contact with shallow-marine sand (Zenderen Member, Breda Formation).
